We conduct a thorough assessment which includes reviewing clinical history, current challenges, and individual strengths. This crucial step allows us to determine if Tulip RTC provides the optimal, most fitting therapeutic environment for your child's journey toward healing and growth.

Once admission is approved, our dedicated team will assist with all necessary paperwork, ensuring a stress-free process. We then prepare for a smooth, genuinely welcoming, and deeply supportive transition, marking the beginning of a powerful new chapter in your child's life at Tulip RTC.

Tulip RTC Admission Criteria

  • Male, ages 7 to 17.
     
  • Be under the legal custody of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) or referred by a licensed mental health provider or juvenile justice system.
     
  • Diagnosed with a serious emotional or behavioral disorder (e.g., PTSD, mood disorder, conduct disorder).
     
  • Exhibits behaviors that require 24-hour therapeutic supervision and structured care.
     
  • Previous placements (e.g., foster care, group homes) have been unsuccessful or unable to meet the child’s needs.
     
  • No current severe medical, developmental, or intellectual disabilities that would require specialized care outside RTC scope.
     
  • No active substance dependence requiring inpatient detox (unless facility is licensed for co-occurring treatment).
     
  • Able to function in a group setting and benefit from therapeutic services.
     
  • Must not pose an imminent risk of harm to self or others that cannot be safely managed in the RTC environment.

Tulip RTC Transitional Living Admission Criteria

Preparing For Independence

  • Male, ages 16 to 22.
     
  • In the managing conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
     
  • Currently placed in or stepping down from a Residential Treatment Center (RTC).
     
  • Requires continued structured support to transition into adulthood.
     
  • Capable of self-care and basic independent living skills with guidance.
     
  • Demonstrates emotional and behavioral stability appropriate for a transitional setting.
     
  • Has no severe medical or psychiatric conditions that would prevent program participation.
     
  • Willing to engage in life skills training, education, employment, and therapeutic services.
     
  • Able to live in a semi-supervised or supervised community-based setting.
     
  • Approved for placement by DFPS or youth’s caseworker/team.
